Hemp Derived Cannabinoids

CBC

CBC1.png

Cannabichromene, or CBC, is a minor cannabinoid that is found in the cannabis plant. Like other cannabinoids, CBC interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system.  CBC is formed through the biosynthesis of other cannabinoids such as CBG, and is typically found in low concentrations in cannabis strains. Despite being a minor cannabinoid, CBC has been the subject of increasing scientific interest in recent years.  While much is still unknown about the effects of CBC and its potential uses, ongoing research is shedding new light on this minor cannabinoid and its role in the body.

CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. It has gained popularity in recent years with many people incorporating it into their daily routines.  One of the reasons CBD has become so popular is its versatility. It can be consumed in a variety of forms, including oils, tinctures, capsules, edibles, and topicals. This makes it accessible to a wide range of people with different lifestyles and preferences.

Another reason for CBD's popularity is its safety profile. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis, CBD does not produce the "high" associated with cannabis use. This makes it appealing to people who are looking for the potential benefits of cannabis without the psychoactive effects.  While more research is needed to fully understand its potential effects and uses, CBD is a promising area of study in the field of cannabis research.

CBG

Cannabigerol, or CBG, is a minor cannabinoid that is found in the cannabis plant. Like other cannabinoids, CBG interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system.  CBG is often referred to as the "mother cannabinoid" because it is the precursor to other cannabinoids such as THC and CBD. As the cannabis plant grows, CBG is converted into other cannabinoids through a process known as biosynthesis. This means that cannabis strains that are high in THC or CBD tend to have lower levels of CBG.  Despite being a minor cannabinoid, CBG has been the subject of increasing scientific interest in recent years.  However, further research is needed to fully understand the effects of CBG on the body and its potential uses.

CBN

Cannabinol, or CBN, is a cannabinoid that is found in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC and CBD, CBN is typically found in lower concentrations and is formed as a result of the oxidation of THC over time. This means that aged or degraded cannabis can contain higher levels of CBN.  Like other cannabinoids, CBN interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system, which is involved in regulating a wide range of physiological processes. It binds to specific receptors in the body, including the CB1 and CB2 receptors.  While more research is needed to fully understand the effects of CBN, scientists are continuing to explore this cannabinoid and its role in the body.

Δ8 THC

Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, or delta-8 THC, is a minor cannabinoid that is found in the cannabis plant. It is similar in structure to delta-9 THC but with a slightly different arrangement of atoms.  Like delta-9 THC, delta-8 THC interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system.  However, delta-8 THC is typically found in much lower concentrations in cannabis strains than delta-9 THC.  Despite being a minor cannabinoid, delta-8 THC has recently gained popularity due to its potential effects, which are reported to be milder than those of delta-9 THC.  While it is not currently regulated under the U.S. federal Controlled Substances Act, some states have implemented restrictions on its sale and use.

Δ9 THC

Odds are if you've heard of THC, Delta 9 THC is the compound that is being referred to.

Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. THC works by binding to cannabinoid receptors in the brain, specifically the CB1 receptor.  Overall, THC is a complex cannabinoid with a range of potential effects and uses. Through its infamous past, there has been much controversy over this compound and is still to this day a controlled substance.  Because of the 2018 Hemp Bill, small amounts of delta 9 THC are now allowed as long as it has been derived from hemp.

Δ10 THC

Delta10 1.png

Delta 10 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a lesser-known cannabinoid that has recently gained attention in the cannabis industry. It is structurally similar to delta 9 THC, but with a slightly different arrangement of atoms. This difference in structure may contribute to different effects and potential uses of delta 10 THC compared to delta 9 THC.  Like other cannabinoids, delta 10 THC works by binding to cannabinoid receptors in the body, specifically the CB1 receptor in the brain. It is important to note that delta 10 THC is not as well-studied as other cannabinoids, such as delta 9 THC and cannabidiol (CBD).  More research is needed to fully understand its potential effects and uses, as well as any potential risks.

HHC

Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) is a relatively new cannabinoid that has recently emerged in the cannabis industry. It is a structural isomer of delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), meaning it has the same chemical formula but a different arrangement of atoms. HHC is a minor cannabinoid found in some strains of cannabis, and is thought to work in a similar way to other cannabinoids, by binding to cannabinoid receptors in the body. Specifically, it is believed to bind to the CB1 receptor in the brain.  As with any cannabinoid, it is important to use caution and consult with a healthcare provider before using HHC or any other cannabinoid product.
